Repair, Awaken, Ascend
Interestingly, the archetype of this card is well preserved even in the old book. In both old and new books, The Chariot is an archetype that refers to the “body,” the “temple of spirit”, or the physical unit as I like to call it. This archetype contains commentary on the nature of the physical unit.
In the old book, there is of course misdirection and obfuscation. From the perspective of the old world, this card represents some form of struggle and triumph. Invariably this struggle is framed in terms of attainment, success, achievement, struggle, effort, and reward after hard work. The basic message is simple. Work hard, and perfection and success you will attain. Struggle, and attain and reward you will win.
In other words you only get to be like the fancy, fortunate Aryan in the chariot after you’ve passed tests and proven your “worthiness” in some fashion.
Sadly, when speaking about the physical unit, there is some truth to this. Taking a look at the Halo/Sharp imagery, and considering this from the perspective of the new world, there is an element of struggle here. If you want to attain the full potential of the physical unit, as represented in the Halo/Sharp card, there is work to be done. However, this work has nothing to with evolutionary, spiritual, or esoteric advancement. Instead, this is the struggle to repair, awaken, and empower the physical unit. Once you’ve repaired the damage caused by The System, once you’ve opened your chakras and fully empowered your physical body, then you become like the powerful figure in the Halo/Sharp version. The potential is there. We just have to actualize it.
