Truth – no compromise, no strings attached – Theory –

If it is one thing that we do not do on the Lightning Path, it is to compromise the truth. Our goal, our purpose in life, our entire reason for being at this time and place is to deal with the Truth.

And I mean that with a capital “T.”

Around here, we are not satisfied with half truths, partial truths, veiled truths, or twisted truths.

We are also not fans of symbolic overload (Sharp, 2009) or EPMO (Sharp, 2009a).

We (and me in particular) are also not fans of postmodernist relativism. Unlike what a lot of people will tell you, there is such a thing as Truth with a capital “T,” even (especially!) when it comes to spiritual truths.

The bottom line is, it is not an anything goes sort of thing.

What you think and believe does matter! Although you may get all squirmy and uncomfortable in your chair when I say this, spiritual Truth does make a difference! It’s why, if the Truth be told, so much effort is placed into getting you to think a certain way.

And what kind of difference does it make?

Well, at the most basic level, capital “T” Truth can make the difference between “filling up the vessel” (i.e. filling up the glass) or not filling up the vessel. And when you understand more about who you are and what your true potential is you’ll also understand, that’s a big difference. So for that reason, our goal is the Truth and nothing but.

Now, this doesn’t have to be a dogmatic goal. That is, when I say this I’m not saying I (or we) are always right about every little thing. Just like everybody else, we do make mistakes. However, unlike others who minimize their mistakes or justify them by claiming that we live in a relativistic universe, we understand that there is such a thing as Truth (even when it comes to spirituality and philosophy), that having the Truth makes a difference, and we accept responsibility for that truth.

Think of it like this.

Imagine that you are a bridge engineer that has just been hired to build a bridge over a body of water. Now, when you get hired to build a bridge, you understand that there are certain Truths that are relevant to your enterprise. You are going to want to know the strength of the materials you use, you are going to want to know how to configure a structure to withstand the project weight of the cars that pass over, and you (by undertaking the job), are going to take responsibility not only for the workers who build your bridge, but for every soul that will ever pass over that bridge now and long past the time you’ve left this world. Given the weight of that responsibility, you are going to want to be right about all things that you do. You’ll check and recheck, ask for advice, consider opinions, and so on. By the time you are ready to build that bridge, you will KNOW, in no uncertain terms, what materials to use and how to put them together. You’ll have the Truth (with a capital “T”) and if you don’t, you better not build that bridge.

Well, it’s like that here. We understand the significance of what we are doing, and the heavy responsiblity that we are taking on and because of that, we are only interested in the truth. The bottom line is, we want to build a safe and efficient bridge between the “old world” and the new world. We (I) want to ensure you get off the sinking old ship.

Now of course, you don’t have to believe what I’m telling you. Like the dogma that trains you to rely on external authority and salvation, you could choose to continue to believe the relativist position that it just doesn’t matter what you think or what you believe, or that people who claim to have spiritual Truth are wacky and deluded, and that’s fine. I’m not going to threaten you. The Truth is, you’re not going to be cast into the flames, be left behind while all the worthy ones get taken up by rapture, or otherwise be punished for failing to make the “right” decision. But I will leave you with my trademark aphorism…

As above in consciousness, so below in matter,

It basically means what you put in your head creates the world that you live in.

My advice to you if you choose not to continue, take a good, hard, honest look at the world you live in and ask yourself, do you like what you see and where things are going?  If you are fine with the world as it is, then fine, stay on that ship but if not, maybe it’s time to take a closer look at what I’m telling you. Maybe it’s time to re-evaluate how you think about things.

As always, stay or go, it’s your choice.
