About Scholarly Exchange

Making Open Access Affordable and Sustainable

Who we are…

Scholarly Exchange emerged in 2002 to facilitate an innovative and cost-efficient electronic-first approach to scholarly publishing. It arose from the cooperative efforts of three university faculty, from Harvard University (Julian Fisher), the Monterey Institute (Yuwei Shi) and Athabasca University (Mike Sosteric), – all with extensive experience in scholarly publishing and committed to the establishment of effective and affordable approaches to the sharing of knowledge among scholars.

Scholarly Exchange is a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 public charity operating under Internal Revenue Service rules. We play no role in the creation of the information or its ultimate ownership, only in the sharing of the highest quality of scholarship as determined by the scholars who produce it.

Scholarly Exchange is a facilitator, not a publisher. Its role is to assist scholarly journals while promoting free and open access to scholarly knowledge.
