Discernment Practice Overview – Discernment practice –

I always, always, always get asked about what I think of this author, or that you tube video, or whatever. So when that happens, I’m going to take some time and tell what I think and why I think it. It seems that when it comes to 2012, UFOs, etc., people can say whatever they want and it just doesn’t matter who they mislead, scare, or hurt. That has to stop. We have to begin to take responsibility for the words that come out of our mouths, and hold people responsible for them as well.  The only way we can do that is to develop some standards for spiritual discourse (like for example my Seven Pillars of Authentic Spirituality), and learn to think critically about what people are saying.

This section of the advanced study curriculum will be devoted to this discernment practice. Here I will provide articles, resource, and links to sources that will help you develop a more critical and grounded view of the world, free of the illusions and fantasies generated by The System in order to keep us sleepy and blindfolded. Hopefully it goes without saying that this is important practice. You need to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff because the last thing you want to do, especially if you are serious about moving forward, is get caught up in the half baked, half truths, of every priest, prophet, or pundit who, after getting an (often terrifying and confusing) peak from beneath their blindfold, presume to be able to speak the Truth about God, spirit, consciousness, creation, or the nature of the world. It just doesn’t happen that way. A glimpse is a glimpse and you cannot build an authentic spiritual framework or practice on confused and fearful tidbits (if you are having trouble here, see my Parable of the Blindfold).

In additon to the material presented here, you may also want to follow our family blog (http://ginaandmike.thelightingpath.com) and the Michael Sharp blog (http://blog.michaelsharp.org).We tend to speak critically and candidly about key issues like gender, economics, and even Hollywood propoganda there. I’ll include key resources and discussion from these blogs here but please feel free to subscribe to the feeds. Also, please feel encouraged to post comments and engage us in dialogue there (or on the forums). The more we engage in public discussion of these issues, the faster we will be able to disseminate this information.
