Parables –

Over the years parables have gotten a bad name. Their association with dogmatic religions has put a bitter taste in a lot of people’s mouths, but the bad reputation is unfair. A parable is just a carefully crafted teaching tool designed to convey complex topics in a non-linear sort of way, and when they are done right, they are very effective teaching tools. In fact, when done right, it is pretty hard to beat a parable in terms of the sheer quantity of information that can be conveyed. Indeed, a carefully constructed parable can convey so much information that it can literally take you days or even weeks to ponder, unpack, and integrate.

And besides, what are parables really? When you think about it, parables are just stories that teach you something and when you think about it that way you realize parables are not confined to western religions and in fact have a long and illustrious history on this planet. Just think of native cultures which have traditionally relied on the storytelling of elders to teach and convey information, knowledge, and even culture. Even Hollywood participates in that. In fact, Hollywood is probably the most prolific producer of parables that there ever was. As I type this I’m thinking of Star Wars which carries so much philosophical, religious, and even spiritual instruction (good/evil, right/wrong, cosmic struggles, etc.) that you’d pretty much have to be a fool to argue that the whole Star Wars franchise wasn’t designed, right from the start, to be a teaching story or parable.

Anyway, the parables that I write, and that you will find on this page,  are teaching stories designed to teach complex spiritual topics in very short periods of time. Reading one of the parables here you can instantly be brought up to speed on what otherwise might take days, months, decades, or even years to understand. For example, to help describe the process of “enlightenment” (a.k.a. awakening, a.k.a. removal of The Veil) I wrote The Parable of the Blindfold. This parable not only defines the nature of enlightenment, but instantly conveys insight into the process, teaching you not only about the nature but also some of the difficulties and dangers associated with the process. You’d be surprised just how much you can learn about the process of enlightenment, or ascension, or spiritual awakening, or even the planetary shift now underway, or the process of creation, just by spending ten minutes with a parable or two.
