Printing Problems

It has recently come to our attention that many users are experiencing difficulties printing articles from the EJS. This is not a problem with the EJS. It seems that recent versions of Netscape 4.0 and above, while capable of displaying documents with embedded stylesheets, are not yet capable of printing these same documents. Since the EJS uses stylesheets to increase the readability of our articles both on and off screen, this means that most material on the EJS is unprintable by users of Netscape 4.0 or above.

Netscape has been notified of this problem and we assume that it will be corrected in their next release. In the mean time, there are a number of possible solutions.

The easiest solution to the problem is to turn off stylesheets in Netscape. You can accomplish this by accessing the Edit/Preferences/Advanced menu option and deselecting the stylesheets checkbox. Alternatively, use an older version of Netscape (e.g., Netscape 3.x) to print the documents.

The second option is to download a recent version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (MSIE). Microsoft’s web browser is capable at this time of displaying and printing documents with embedded stylesheets. A link to the Microsoft download location is provided below.
