The Lightning Path Websites – General – 대각 – 자각 능력을 주소서 Ascend

For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. Luke 17: 24.

The Lightning Path^TM (LP) aims to be a sophisticated and comprehensive system of spiritual education, ascension, and planetary emancipation. The goal here is not necessarily to replace your current belief system (although the LP does function as a complete and powerful spiritual system at least equivalent in depth and scope to any of the world’s major belief systems) but to give you the power and wisdom to be able to discern the wheat from the chaff within your own religion or spirituality. The Lightning Path is about capital “T” Truth no matter where you might find that.

Piecing together a comprehensive system of spiritual enlightenment is, as you can imagine, no easy task. The effort here moves beyond a paper back or two (or even twelve) and broaches spiritual, political, social, economic, and psychological topics. The goal here is to provide you with the core spiritual Truths and then, as you gradually realize the truly revolutionary nature of this path, help you take those truths and apply them to the world at large.

Because of the scope of this work, I have chosen to break up the Lightning Path into its distinctive components. The site that you are currently surfing (http://www.michaelsharp.org) is the main LP site. On this site you will find all the basic and advanced spiritual information you need, from books and articles to definitions and additional resources, to successfully awaken, empower, and ascend. The best way to approach this site is as if you were entering an online university or classroom. The information here is organized from basic to advanced (i.e. core, intermediate, advanced, and mentor level) with key definitions, resources, and even online discussion forums for the various information and resources. This site is your jumping off point.

In addition to this site there are several other key LP websites. These websites are all public websites and available to everyone.

Now at first glance some of these website may not appear to have a spiritual focus, however the concepts and thinking on these sites is informed, at a deep level, by LP spirituality. Consider the blog of Gina and Mike (http://ginaandmike.thelightingpath.com). Articles on this blog cover everything from gender to politics to movies and although there is no explicit spiritual focus, the articles there draw from LP theory and practice. Consider the article on gendered activities for example. As those familiar with the LP will know, the LP de-emphasizes gender and argues for the critical need to balance the energies (see for example the ACTIVATION card from the Halo/Sharp deck). The article on gendered activities picks this theme up (i.e. the elimination of gendered activities) and gives additional political and economic support, thereby fleshing out and expanding the spiritual principle. We shall add additional articles informed by, and expanding upon, LP theory and practice as time passes.

Or consider our LP Institute website (http://institute.thelightningpath.com). On this professional level website Gina (my wife) and I are developing the psychology of the Lightning Path. On this website we will provide articles and resources intended to develop a spiritually sophisticated psychological theory and practice. Although this website will not contain an explicit spiritual focus at least initially, all the articles and resources will be informed by LP theory and practice. For example this article on questioning your counselor provides practical guidance on a core LP principle, that of taking your power back. The article encourages individuals to see themselves as equals (though perhaps not as knowledgeable) as their counselors and to have the courage and strength to ask critical questions. Future articles will explore the psychology of non-gendered relationships, look at how The System oppresses and undermines psychological health, and even provide preliminary statements on our spiritually sophisticated alternative to “modern” materialist psychologies.

Moving beyond our cultural and psychological websites, we also provide The SpiritWiki. The SpiritWiki is the canonical LP encyclopedia. Within the SpiritWiki you will find each and every concept, idea, practice, and book on the LP defined, explained, and contextualized. Although the SpiritWiki is basically a compilation of LP thought, it is nevertheless quite important. No other spiritual or religious system provides such an explicit and open view of it’s concepts and ideas. In fact, typically religions and spiritualities hide behind various layers of EPMO, Symbolic Overload, and even exclusionary practice. Religions have “inner circles” and “mystery schools” and complicated language and maze like conceptual structures all designed, in my humble opinion, to obscure what the religion or spirituality is really saying (and what the religion is “really” saying is often abusive, psychotic, exclusionary, and elitist). Not so on the LP. On the LP, everything is exposed to the bright light of daylight so you can clearly understand, integrate, and decide for yourself based on the actual content and meaning of the system.Clarity and total transparency is the goal of The SpiritWiki.

When you are really ready for the Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth, consider my personal blog (http://blog.michaelsharp.org).This resource is designed to provide a full on view of the LP and its social, political, psychological, and economic implications. And make no mistake, there are social, political, psychological, and economic implications. The LP does not justify and accept the suffering, poverty, hunger, starvation, disease, and injustice of this world. In fact, quite the opposite. The LP provides not only the key that allows you to see beyond the veil placed over your eyes to hide the reality of this world, and not only provides the empowerment practices that allow you to change the world (starting with your own), but also teaches us to expect change. The LP provides a complete, logical, and self-contained alternative to the elite based and/or corrupted spiritualities of this world which, when adopted by enough people (either in LP form or some equivalent), will begin to transform the collective reality of this planet. As above in consciousness so below in matter^TM. Change the concepts in your mind and eventually reality follows. It may only be a little at first, but the more people that jump onto the new ship, the faster the world will transform.

Finally we have the Open University of Light website. This website offers “mentor training” to anyone interested in taking their spirituality to a more practical and service based level. Individuals interested in training to be an LP mentor become qualified to offer sophisticated spiritual advice to help those beginning their path towards awakening and development. LP mentors explore in more detail key LP concepts, learn how to link LP spirituality to modern psychology, and learn professional ethical and counseling practices. Mentor training is suitable for anybody (from day care worker to professional psychologist) interested in providing solid spiritual advice and guidance. And that is about it. Now, it is tempting to see this collection of websites as a loose and poorly organized set of resources, but that would be mistake. In fact, the LP websites comprise a carefully designed and implemented hypertext educational system of the type first theorized by Vanevvar Bush in his article As We May Think. Bush, writing decades before the emergence of the WWW, envisaged a memory enhancement system (a memex as he called it) that would, rather than forcing us into a linear and sterile analytic mode (as do books and our traditional education system) provide a system of memory enhancement that was more in tune with the way we really thought which, according to Bush, was in an associative manner (i.e. we follow ideas and leads in an iterative, almost spiral fashion as we build an increasingly sophisticated and deep understanding of whatever it is we are studying). It was a great idea and eventually became technologically feasible with the invention of the World Wide Web.

The Lightning Path websites and books are such a memex. Starting from the introductory materials you are provided a carefully constructed web of information designed to allow you to explore, develop, awaken, and empower at your own pace, and taking your own path through the materials. It is a bit tempting to see this whole edifice as a maze, as mystery schools like to do, with the rose in the middle symbolizing enlightenment, and you standing at the entrance waiting to struggle your way through, but it’s not. Unlike the maze that some people use to refer to the process of enlightenment (or individuation as C.G. Jung would have said) there are no dead ends or back turns. There is nothing difficult or convoluted and there are no tests of intelligence or strength. Everything is straight forward and in the open. If anything it’s best to see this as the gateway to a garden city. The garden is walled off to ensure the carefully constructed contents are not corrupted by outside influences, but once inside the gate you find nothing but open spaces, pathways, and avenues to explore. You may take the guided tour through the garden or follow your own path. It is up to you. Whatever you do we are certain that if you are serious about learning a new spirituality and a new way of thinking, one that provides an authentic alternative to the systems of old world spirituality that currently exist, you will find your time in this Garden productive, enlightening, empowering, and transformative.
